SMOKING ACES

 

With numerous club and festival appearances across Western Canada opening for blues men such as

 David Gogo and blues legend Tim Williams as well as for country music giants such as Emerson Drive, 

Hey Romeo and High Valley, Smoking Aces is a band that seems able to “cross the divide” and appeal to a 

wider audience than most blues bands.

 

The band competed in the 2014 and 2017 Calgary Blues Association "Road to Memphis Challenge" competing with other top blues bands from Southern Alberta for the priveledge of representing Calgary at the Annual Blues Challenge in Memphis and has three albums and a film score to its credit.

Offering a combination of Chicago blues classics and self penned songs the band has released three albums the latest "Between the Tracks" featuring all original material written by the band. The band will be starting work on its fourth album in 2019

 

British born singer, song writer and bass player John White fronts the band with Bob  Stevenson on drums, 

Mike Holden on keyboards , Dave Macrae on guitar and harp and Eugene Kurtin on sax.
